A little help from your friends. It is food safety time here at 101 Cooking For Two. While there are many places with great suggestions, here are some of my favorite food preparation/safety sites.
Butterball is always a great place to start for turkey help. As always, they offer their toll free help line at 1-800-BUTTERBALL (800-288-8372) but a check of their web site will probably answer your questions at www.butterball.com. The hotline is 6 AM to 6PM (CT) Thanksgivings day. It operates most days for the next month. Check their web site for days and hours.
Next up is the FDA. While we all love to complain about government issues, they do offer some great scientific based food safety information. As always, they are rock solid. FoodSafety.gov.
Remember that the safe internal temperature for all poultry is 165. This MUST be check with a thermometer. The pop up things are inaccurate. AND DRESSING NEVER GOES IN THE BIRD.
I’m skipping the recipe recommendations. They are on the right sidebar.
Lastly, check my previous post on food safety.
