You know the fudgy brownies you find at the bakery that you can never replicate at home? The ones with the rich, thin layer of frosting? With the chewy brownie base? Yup! Look no further……here is the recipe!  These are nothing short of spectacular and everyone you make these for will beg you for the recipe.  Will you let them in on the secret? Should I let you in? Okay, of course I will….these start with a box mix of brownies!!! Shriek!!!! I know!  Hard to believe but trust me on this one. I used Pillsbury dark chocolate brownies. You can use your favorite!

Triple Chocolate Brownie Pie

When I told my family about Pie Day Fridays, that I was posting a new pie recipe each Friday this summer, my daughter frowned and announced in a very disappointed tone that she didn’t like pie…

She wasn’t speaking from experience, though, because she’d really not tried pie much in her lifetime. So I set out to make a pie that my chocolate loving daughter wouldn’t be able to refuse.

Now once y’all see this recipe you’ll probably think “Oh that’s just too simple.” Some folks might even think it is so simple that it shouldn’t even be called a recipe, but I think most of y’all will be more in my mindset of “Oh that is so simple, it’s wonderful!”

If you’re like me and have never met a brownie you didn’t like, you’re gonna love this pie.

And yes, Katy Rose says she loves pie now so all is right in my little world .

You’ll need: a pouch of brownie mix, chocolate chips, and a regular unbaked pie crust.

You’re also going to need whatever ingredients that brownie mix calls for so take a gander at the back and make sure you have that on hand. It’s usually just a bit of oil, an egg, and some water (which I usually substitute milk for but either way works fine).

Mix up brownie mix according to package directions.

Don’t you know that little hands helping make everything taste better?

Stir in chocolate chips.

That is me saying “this” with a spanish accent, which is as close as I can possibly come to speaking Spanish. I admire folks who can speak more than one language, but I’m not one of them. I think the hard drive on my brain is full This will be interesting next week as I venture to yet another Spanish speaking country with nothing beyond my nearly forgotten American Sign Language skills and an Alabama accent. Hopefully, you’ll be following my posts on that trip by tuning into my facebook page or checking out this post each day for new links to my journal entries.

Black Bean Brownies {Gluten-Free}

OK…I have to admit, the thought of black bean brownies completely disgusted me when I first heard of them. Brownies made of black beans…. really?! That just does not sound appetizing. When I think of black beans, I think of Mexican food…not dessert! Don’t get me wrong, I love black beans. It took me forever to try a black bean brownie recipe, because I convinced myself they were going to be gross and I would just end up tossing them out. I don’t have a gluten allergy, so I don’t usually tend to go out of my way to look for gluten-free recipes. After realizing I have been eating so much flour lately, I thought it would be fun to try to make gluten-free brownies, you know, just to see how they would come out. I have to tell you, I have not been so surprised by a recipe in a very long time. I promise, I could not even tell they were made with black beans instead of flour…it is incredible! You really can’t tell. The only difference between these black bean brownies and the brownies I usually make is that the black bean brownies do not seem to be as “fudgy” as regular brownies, but more cake-like. At least that is how this recipe tends to turn out. If you leave out the baking powder, I feel like they would turn out a little more fudgy, but I haven’t tried doing that yet. Would you ever try black bean brownies?? You may be turned off by the idea now just like I was at first, but someday you may want to try them out – you might be as surprised as I was, and they are healthier for you too
