Chocolate oat porridge


The chocolate oat porridge it is a healthy and tasty breakfast that helps you stay fit. A serving of oat soup, if you don't overdo the added sugars, doesn't have many calories.

Why the oat porridge is one of the ideal breakfasts to stay fit:

  • oats are rich in fiber and very satiating so you will arrive at lunchtime without the classic hole in the stomach
  • has a low glycemic index
  • it is one of the richest cereals in proteins and essential fatty acids
  • it is a source of slow digesting carbohydrates
  • contains anti-inflammatory substances
  • oats lowers cholesterol

But what exactly is oat porridge?

It is basically one sweet soup is creamy based on oat flakes (or oat bran) soaked in a liquid that can be milk (vegetable or cow) or half water and half milk.
The two ingredients are heated for a few minutes until the oats become creamy. This is the base which is then enriched as desired with fresh fruit, cinnamon, honey, dried fruit, chocolate (flakes or drops), yogurt or oil seeds.

Oatmeal porridge is served both warm and cold.
It is a dish much loved by athletes as it satisfies and gives long-term energy.

Ingredients for one serving

  • 40 g of oat flakes (about 4 tablespoons)
  • 200 ml of milk (cow or vegetable) of your choice
  • 100 ml of water
  • half a teaspoon of cinnamon
  • a spoonful of chocolate chips
  • To garnish:
  • a teaspoon of honey
  • dried fruit almonds and hazelnuts
  • half a banana

Chocolate oat porridge

Preparation

Take a non-stick pan and pour in the oat flakes.

Add about 200 ml of milk of your choice, you can range from classic cow's milk to vegetable milk of your liking.

Also add about 100 ml of water and half a teaspoon of cinnamon.
Bring to the heat and start mixing, bringing to a boil.

Keep stirring for about 3-4 minutes until the oatmeal has a creamy consistency.
You choose the density: the more you boil it, the more it thickens.

After you have reached the desired creaminess, turn off the heat and add a nice spoonful of dark chocolate chips. Otherwise dark or milk chocolate flakes, or cocoa powder.

Pour the Porridge in a bowl and let it cool.

At this point, fill the oat porridge as you wish: in this case we have added a teaspoon of honey, hazelnuts and almonds and as fresh fruit slices of banana.

But you can indulge your imagination and fill with the fruit you like best, oil seeds and dried fruit of your choice.
