To make our cute little Easter Marshmallow treats, you’ll first want to make a basic rice krispie treat recipe. Mine includes the perfect ratio of marshmallows, cereal and butter!

I measure 6 cups of mini marshmallows out and add them to the bowl. Add in butter, cut up into small pieces and microwave the whole bowl for 1 minute 25 seconds.

Once it’s done, remove from the microwave and pour in cereal and stir until well combined. Stir in the remaining 1 cup of mini marshmallows.

Green Rice Krispie Treats

At this point, you’ll also stir in the green food coloring. You can use the tiny squeeze bottles or gel food coloring, just start slow and add more green as you’d like. You can use natural food coloring, but know that you’ll have to use a significantly larger amount.

Transfer 2-3 TBSP portions to a mini muffin tin cups or regular muffin tin cups and press in the center to create a cavity. Candies will stick better if you create a good cavity, so make sure you push down a good amount! Let cool to set for 1 hour.

Use a thin knife to gently pop each marshmallow basket out of the muffin tin cups. Place 2-4 Easter candies in each basket. Candies will stick better once they have a chance to set. Enjoy!

How do I keep my Rice Krispie Treats from sticking?

I always spray my rubber spatula with a good coating of cooking spray and then mixing my Krispie Treats is so much easier! You can also spray the mixing bowl you use and of course, spray the 9×13 glass pan with cooking spray too. No more mess!

Here are several ways to keep rice krispie treats soft. They’re simple, but effective!

  1. Make sure to not use stale marshmallows. Seriously. Rice Krispie Treats are not the treat to use up those old, hard marshmallows! Recently purchased marshmallows work best.
  2. Watch that you don’t overcook. You want to heat the marshmallows until they’re soft and beginning to lose shape. I find it’s easiest to not overcook marshmallows if I heat them in the microwave. Mine take just over 1 minute to be ready- that’s it!
  3. Always remember the butter. The marshmallow-butter combination helps keep the treats soft and chewy, so don’t leave it out or reduce the measurement.
  4. Don’t chill in the refrigerator. Even if you want them to set quickly, I find this just dries the marshmallow treats out more quickly.
  5. Store in an airtight container on the counter top.

BANANA SPLIT PIE – Butter with a Side of Bread by Gordon Ramsay

BANANA SPLIT PIE - Butter with a Side of Bread

Banana Split Pie is an easy no-bake dessert made with a graham cracker pie crust full of cream cheese, bananas, whipped cream, pineapple, chocolate syrup and cherries. A refreshing banana split dessert that is easy to make and serve!

Nothing says summer like banana splits, and this version will not disappoint! This banana split pie only takes a few minutes to prepare and will stay ready in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before serving so you can prepare it in advance – something you can’t do with the ice cream version! You can also customize this dessert and add nuts and/or any other toppings you’d like – my kids had a lot of fun helping me make this fun and easy treat!

What ingredients are in a banana split?

Banana splits are traditionally made with ice cream that is served between two halves of a banana. The ice cream is then topped with chocolate sauce, caramel, whipped cream, nuts and cherries. The pie version of a banana split swaps out the ice cream with a cream cheese/powdered sugar layer but has many of the same ingredients. The result is a banana split dessert that has all of the flavors of the classic version without needing to be frozen!

The best part of making banana splits is the versatility! You like butterscotch topping? Add it on! Do you love nuts? Marshmallows? Caramel? Add whatever you want! It’s all yummy!

Does banana split pie have eggs in it?

This banana split pie recipe does not have eggs in it! Many of them do, which is why I was so excited to find this version! I’m not super squeamish when it comes to raw eggs…at least not while eating cookie dough, but I just never liked the idea of putting them in a no-bake pie. This recipe is delicious and no eggs are needed!

Is banana split pie made with pudding?

Banana split pie can be made with or without pudding. The original version just called for powdered sugar to be mixed with the cream cheese for the bottom layer, but I’ve experimented by swapping half of the powdered sugar with instant banana pudding mix and I love that version too! The banana pudding adds a much stronger banana flavor to the dessert and also creates a thicker custard type filling for the pie.

If you are like me and you love real bananas, but not banana flavored things, you can use vanilla pudding instead. This will give you the custard like filling without the extra banana flavor. If you are a huge chocolate fan, you could even use chocolate pudding and it would taste delicious too! So many options!

Ingredients in Banana Split Pie

  • 1 graham cracker crust
  • 8 ounce pkg cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar OR 1 cup powdered sugar + 1 small box of instant Banana Cream Pudding mix
  • 4 bananas, sliced
  • 8 oz. can crushed pineapple, well drained
  • 8 oz. container Cool Whip, thawed
  • 10-15 maraschino cherries, dried on paper towels
  • chocolate syrup, optional

How to make Banana Split Pie

Use an electric mixer to blend the cream cheese and powdered sugar (or powdered sugar and banana pudding mix) until smooth. If you want extra banana flavor and a slightly thicker consistency, use the pudding mix. Using just powdered sugar works well too -either way, it is delicious!

Spread the cream cheese layer on top of the crust. Slice bananas and place on the cream cheese layer. Top the bananas with the crushed pineapple.

Spread Cool Whip on top of the pineapple and top with maraschino cherries and chocolate syrup. Keep in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Enjoy!

Can banana split pie be made in advance?

Unlike a traditional banana split, this pie can be made up to 24 hours before serving. The bananas will start to brown and get mushy if you make the pie too early, so the closer to serving that you can make it, the better. Leftovers can also be stored in the refrigerator, but plan to eat them pretty quickly as well!

Does banana split pie have Cool Whip in it?

The top layer of the pie is made with Cool Whip – a non-dairy whipped topping. If you can’t find Cool Whip where you live or you prefer not to use it in recipes, you can use stabilized whipped cream instead. If you just use regular whipped cream, the consistency will be too light and the cream will not hold up very well. It’s very simple to make your own stabilized whipped cream and it just takes a few minutes!

How do you make stabilized whipped cream?

To make stabilized whipped cream, you will need the following ingredients:

  • 4 ounces of cream cheese (softened to room temperature)
  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream.
  1. Beat the cream cheese with the powdered sugar and vanilla until soft and smooth.
  2. In a separate bowl, beat the whipping cream just until soft peaks form.
  3. Add the cream cheese mixture to the whipped cream and beat until stiff peaks are formed. Store in the refrigerator until ready to use.

A little tip for making whipped cream faster. Use a metal bowl for whipping the cream and place the bowl in the freezer for about 30 minutes before you make the whipped cream. This will significantly decrease the amount of time that you will need to beat the whipped cream – the process will go much faster!

EASY KOOL-AID SHERBET – Butter with a Side of Bread by Gordon Ramsay

EASY KOOL-AID SHERBET - Butter with a Side of Bread

Easy Kool-Aid Sherbet is a delicious frozen treat that is made with only three ingredients! You can make strawberry sherbet, orange sherbet, watermelon sherbet – any flavor you want!

Easy Kool-Aid Sherbet has become a favorite treat around my house now that summer is finally here! When it’s hot outside, nothing cools you off better than a frozen treat, and if your kids are anything like mine, they are constantly begging for something cold, whether it be a cold drink, a popsicle, or an ice cream cone.

Easy Kool-Aid Sherbet is a delicious frozen treat that is made with only three ingredients! You can make strawberry sherbet, orange sherbet, watermelon sherbet - any flavor you want!

There are many other homemade sherbet recipes out there, but one of the main reasons I love this recipe so much is that it is SO simple – your kids can even help make it! All it takes it three ingredients, some stirring, some freezing, some scooping, and some enjoying! My kids have loved getting to pick out and try all of their favorite flavors – so far, watermelon is our favorite!

I have made this recipe for several different parties – there is a Kool-Aid flavor in pretty much every color so you can make this sherbet to match any theme/decor. You can do red and blue for the 4th of July, pastel colors for Easter, orange for Halloween, or you can just use your child’s favorite color for a birthday party!

Sorbet vs. sherbet – what is the difference?

Are sherbet and sorbet the same thing? Sherbet is generally made with some sort of fruit juice (in this case, Kool-Aid) and some type of dairy as well. This sherbet recipe does have milk in it, but I’m sure that you could use a dairy free type of milk – almond milk or coconut milk would be delicious in this recipe! Then you can have the creaminess of sherbet even if you have a dairy sensitivity.

Sorbets are usually dairy-free – mostly made with fruit and ice. And did anyone else grow up calling sherbet “sherbert”? I honestly thought that’s what it was called for years, and I still have a hard time saying it the correct way!

How do you make your own sherbet ice cream?

I had no idea how easy it was to make sherbet! I know there are more complicated recipes out there and some of them may require an ice-cream maker, but this one doesn’t! No special equipment required! To make this sherbet, whisk the ingredients together and then freeze for a couple of hours until partially frozen. To make the sherbet really smooth and creamy, you then mix with an electric mixer (the blender would probably work too!) and then re-freeze until completely set. Easy!

How long does it take to make sherbet?

You only have to spend about 3-5 minutes actually making the sherbet, but then you do have to allow about 6-8 hours of freezing time before the sherbet is completely frozen. I just make mine a day or two before I need it. If you keep it in the freezer in an airtight container, it will easily stay good for a week or two!

Easy Kool-Aid Sherbet is a delicious frozen treat that is made with only three ingredients! You can make strawberry sherbet, orange sherbet, watermelon sherbet - any flavor you want!

Ingredients in Easy Kool-Aid Sherbet

-1 pkg Kool-Aid mix, any flavor

-1 cup sugar

-3 cups milk (I used 1% because that’s what we usually have, but you could use whole milk, 2% milk, skim, etc.)

Easy Kool-Aid Sherbet is a delicious frozen treat that is made with only three ingredients! You can make strawberry sherbet, orange sherbet, watermelon sherbet - any flavor you want!

How to make sherbet

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together all three ingredients until sugar and Kool-Aid mix is dissolved. Pour into a shallow dish, cover and then place in the freezer for about 2 hours, or until mostly set.
  2. Place the partially frozen sherbet back in a bowl and mix with an electric mixer until smooth. Refreeze in the covered, shallow container until set (at least a few hours, I freeze mine overnight). Set the sherbet out about 10-15 minutes prior to serving to make it easier to scoop.

Can you make rainbow sherbet?

I haven’t tried making rainbow sherbet yet, but I think it would be really easy to do with this recipe! Make three or four different flavors and then wait until the flavors are mostly set and then swirl them together – if you swirl them together too early, you might end up with something not quite so pretty!
