Creamy Jello Fruit Dip is amazing! At my house we LOVE fruit, and we eat a lot of it! If only I liked veggies as much! If I had the option between normal “dessert” (sweets) and a big bowl of fresh fruit, I would gladly take the bowl of fruit! My kids love fruit too, but even more, they love dipping fruit (or any food) – so this tasty and colorful fruit dip recipe is always a big hit.

What type of fruit goes best with this fruit dip recipe?

Any kind of fruit will pair well with this delicious fruit dip, no matter what flavor of jello you use! I absolutely love pineapple, berries, grapes, melons and bananas with this fruit dip, but you can use any type of fruit you want. Sometimes different fruits will pair better with different flavors of jello.

I really love strawberry fruit dip and orange fruit dip with strawberries and bananas and I’ve made raspberry fruit dip that I absolutely love to eat with fresh peaches. There are a ton of different jello flavors to play around with so you can try them all and decide what you like best! If you are feeling extra adventurous, you can even mix multiple jello flavors!

What kind of cream cheese is used in creamy fruit dip?

All types of cream cheese work well in this fruit dip recipe! I have tried regular cream cheese, the reduced fat cream cheese and even fat free cream cheese and they all turn out wonderfully! The consistency will be slightly different, depending on what type of cream cheese you use.

How do you soften cream cheese?

Cream cheese is easy to soften – you can set it out at room temperature or soften it more quickly in the microwave.

-To soften at room temperature more quickly, just set the cream cheese on a plate and cut into smaller pieces. The cream cheese should reach room temperature in about 15-20 minutes with this method.

-To soften the cream cheese in the microwave, remove the foil packaging and set the cream cheese in a small bowl or on a plate. Microwave for about 10-15 seconds. If the cream cheese is still cold and hard, continue to microwave for about 5 seconds at a time until the cream cheese is soft throughout. Just make sure not to microwave it too long or it will start to melt!

Ingredients needed to make Creamy Jello Fruit Dip

One of my favorite things about this fruit dip recipe is that you only need 3 ingredients! Here’s what you will need to make this fruit dip recipe:

  • 8 oz. cream cheese, softened
  • 3 oz. pkg Jello, any flavor
  • 1/4 cup milk

How to make this fruit dip recipe

To start, you will want to stir cream cheese in a bowl until smooth. You can use a spoon, small whisk or an electric mixer. If you are finding that there are a lot of lumps in the cream cheese after stirring, try to soften it a little bit more. You can do this in the microwave, just make sure to only microwave the cream cheese for a few seconds at a time because you don’t want it to get too hot or melt!

Once the cream cheese is ready, gradually add the Jello powder and milk and stir until well blended. Again, you can use a small whisk or an electric mixer to make the mixture even more smooth.

Once the fruit dip is ready, you can serve it immediately or chill in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Serve with any kind of fruit you like!

Servings: 1 cup

Author: Butter With A Side of Bread

Ingredients

  • 8 oz. cream cheese softened
  • 3 oz. pkg Jello any flavor
  • 1/4 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Stir cream cheese in a bowl until smooth. Gradually add the Jello powder and milk and stir until well blended. You can use a small whisk, or an electric mixer if you want to make the mixture even more smooth.

  2. You can serve immediately or chill in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Serve with fruit.

How do you store creamy fruit dip?

Creamy fruit dip needs to be stored in the refrigerator and it will stay good for 5-7 days. Generally cream cheese does not freeze very well, so this dip should not be placed in the freezer. This fruit dip recipe is so easy to make that you don’t really need to worry about making it very far in advance – it only takes a few minutes to put together and is ready to serve immediately if needed, although I prefer to serve it chilled.

Is fruit dip healthy?

Fruit dip does have some sugar in it, but you can reduce the fat content completely by using fat free cream cheese and skim milk. Although fresh fruit is healthier without the dip, my kids tend to eat more fruit when they have something to dip it into – anything that encourages you to eat more fruit is a good choice in my book!

Skinny Three Layer Confetti Dip — The Skinny Fork by Gordon Ramsay

Skinny Three Layer Confetti Dip — The Skinny Fork

For the first layer, we’re starting out with one of my favorites. GUACAMOLE. Avocados are life. And this homemade guacamole is my life blood. I prefer a chunky guacamole that’s simple and to the point. I want to taste those avocados, damnit!

The next layer is more decadent. Or, at least that’s how it seems. With subbing in greek yogurt in place of the sour cream, we’re adding in protein and lowering the calories. With some cheese and a few herbs and spices, this layer is a real winner.

The final top layer is as fresh as they come. Chopped tomatoes along with more herbs and spices leaves us with a pico de gallo inspired chunky ‘salsa’ that adds a final BURST of citrus and brightness.

Coleen’s Recipes: BEST ONION DIP EVER by Gordon Ramsay

Coleen's Recipes: BEST ONION DIP EVER

A lot of chip dips are made with all sour cream. I’ve wanted to try this dip recipe, made with sour cream AND cream cheese, for a long time…..today was the day. It went together well and now the recipe says I have to let it sit in the fridge for a few hours to mellow the flavors…….are they crazy?? If you know me at all……I am NOT a patient girl!!!

This recipe calls for 1 cup of caramelized onion’s which might concern some new cooks. It is VERY easy to do and the flavor it gives the dip is fabulous!! Here’s a couple pointers:

To get 1 cup of caramelized onions, it’s going to take about two medium size onions or one huge one.  Peel it, and slice it (into about 1/4″ slices…maybe a little thinner) and cook them in a heavy pan with a couple tablespoons of butter.

Start out at medium high heat until you hear the onions sizzling, then turn the burner WAY, WAY down and just let them simmer. My electric stove burner settings range from 2-10….I simmer the onion on about #2, for 30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes or so. They should look like this:

Remove onions from the pan and let them cool while you mix everything else together:

1 cup sour cream
4 ounces cream cheese  (room temperature)
3/4 teaspoon garlic powder (not salt)
1/2 teaspoon onion  powder (not salt)
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt (less if you use table salt)
1   tablespoon fresh chopped parsley

Beat the cream cheese until smooth and soft, add sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, kosher salt and parsley. Mix well.

Run your knife over the caramelized onions, so they are in smaller pieces. Stir into dip. Decorate with snipped chives (optional).

Cover and chill for at least a few hours to mellow out the garlic and onion powder (overnight is even better)…..Oh who am I kidding?

The cream cheese gives this dip a wonderful consistency and rich creamy taste.  Your family and friends will love it….if you care to share.

Enjoy !!!
