Slow Cooker Cabbage Casserole Recipe by Gordon Ramsay

Slow Cooker Cabbage Casserole Recipe

Slow Cooker Cabbage Casserole - Uses Spaghetti Sauce!

Ok, I am going to get to the Slow Cooker Cabbage Casserole

Todays recipe for Cabbage Casserole in the Crock Pot is one of the easiest recipes you could ever make. Four ingredients, and you can leave one or two of them out if you want. Totally up to you. By using spaghetti sauce in place of tomatoes and tomato sauce, you save a little money and also cut out the need for additional seasonings, but you can add those in as well if you like.

This recipe is versatile and dependable.

Slow Cooker Cabbage Casserole - Uses Spaghetti Sauce!

Ingredients To Cabbage Casserole in the Slow Cooker You’ll Need:

  • Spaghetti Sauce
  • Cooked Ground Beef*
  • Onion
  • Cabbage (well it is Cabbage casserole after all) 🙂

Use whatever spaghetti sauce you grab first.

Should I Use Fresh or Dehydrated Ground Beef?

You can use fresh ground beef that you’ve cooked or even dehydrated ground beef if you have that (here is my video on how to do it). If you use fresh, cook it first. If you use freeze dried, just add some water to it and let it sit for 3-5 minutes before using. If you are using dehydrated, cover it with hot water and let it sit for ten minutes (or so).

Taste Testing Your Casserole’s Sauce Is Always a Good Thing

How well seasoned your casserole is going to be depends on how well seasoned your sauce is. Once it is done cooking you can have a taste and then add more herbs or spices if you like. Or add them at the start if you prefer.

How To Make Cabbage Casserole In The Crock Pot

Slow Cooker Cabbage Casserole - Uses Spaghetti Sauce!

Chop your cabbage and your onion.

Mama called while I was doing this and said “Now if yore chopping onions, make them real small, not like you normally do…”

I like big slices of onion in my dishes because I like onion, so I slice mine big. Mama likes the taste of onion but not the experience of biting into a whole hunk of it, so she chops hers really tiny.  Mama, I tried. This is as small as I can get and I made it that small just because of you.

I had initially pictured large slices but at __ years of age, I still mind my Mama.

One of my favorite things about fall is being able to start eating soup. Lots of soup. I could honestly eat soup every day all fall and winter and I would be completely satisfied! This soup is very simple which is perfect for even my pickiest daughter, and the flavor is incredible. My kids are always super busy in the fall and it is so much easier to get dinner on the table if I use my slow cooker and do most of my dinner prep in the mornings.

Slow Cooker Chicken Alfredo Soup is high in protein and even higher in flavor. Even my picky kids request this soup on a regular basis. Trying to eat less carbs? Just leave the noodles out!

ingredients in chicken alfredo soup

Ingredients in Slow Cooker Chicken Alfredo Soup

Chicken – Use 3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts. Most of the cooking time for this recipe is just for cooking the chicken, but if you are short on time, you can bake the chicken or use a rotisserie chicken instead (directions below).

Garlic – Lots of garlic in this recipe to give the soup that classic alfredo flavor! You’ll need about 4 tablespoons of garlic, so you’ll need about 8 cloves of garlic or you can cheat like I do and use minced garlic straight out of the jar! I always keep a jar of minced garlic in the refrigerator to save on time.

Butter – Can’t leave the butter out!

Chicken bouillon – You’ll need 3 teaspoons of the powdered bouillon or 3 bouillon cubes.

Water

Flour – An important ingredient for thickening the soup to just the right consistency.

Pasta – Bow-tie pasta is my favorite in this recipe, but any small pasta will work.

Milk – 2% is what I have in my fridge and what I use in this recipe, but you can use any type of milk.

Whipping cream – The recipe calls for 2 cups and it really does make the soup so creamy and delicious. If you’re trying to cut calories, you can skip the cream and just add more milk, but your soup will be thinner. Or you can just swap out part of the cream for more milk.

Mozzarella and parmesan cheese – Use shredded cheese for best results so that that the cheese can melt quickly. You can also just use an Italian blend if you prefer.

What type of pasta to use in chicken alfredo soup?

I usually use bow-tie noodles in this soup, but any small pasta works great. Miniature shells, elbow, cavatappi, fusili, rotini, small penne….they all work great. Make sure to cook the noodles slightly less than package directions as they will continue to cook in the soup a little bit and you don’t want them to get mushy or over-done.

How to make soup on the stove

I like using the slow cooker for this recipe (mostly for cooking the chicken), but you can easily make this soup recipe on the stovetop. Bake the chicken before placing it in a large pot and then proceeding with the recipe as written, beginning with step 3. Just simmer the soup for about 30-60 minutes over medium-low heat before serving.

Best baked chicken recipe

I love how well chicken cooks in the slow cooker, but if you are short on time and need to speed up the process, here is my favorite method for baking chicken in the oven.

Preheat the oven to 400°. Spray a 9X13 pan with non-stick cooking spray. Use 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil and brush all over the sides of the chicken breasts. Sprinkle one teaspoon of salt and one teaspoon of Italian seasoning evenly over the chicken. Bake for 22-25 minutes or until the middle of the chicken reaches a temp of 165°.

Let the chicken rest for about 5 minutes before dicing or shredding and adding to the soup. Or you can really cheat and just use a shredded rotisserie chicken!

Slow Cooker Granola With Cherries And Almonds by Gordon Ramsay

A pretty glass jar filled with homemade granols

Crunchy homemade granola made in your slow cooker! This crock pot granola recipe has a hint of cinnamon, dried cherries, and almonds. Make it your own by swapping out the fruit and nuts for your favorites!

A pretty glass jar filled with homemade granols

Did you know that you can make crispy, crunchy homemade granola right in your slow cooker?

That’s right, your crock pot isn’t just for soups and stews! In fact, making crispy slow cooked recipes is one of my favorite tricks. I share a bunch of them in my new Healthy Meal Prep Slow Cooker Cookbook, from an awesome veggie pot pie topped with crispy crust to cranberry-orange scones that are perfect for breakfast on the go.

The naturally sweetened cherry-almond granola is one of my favorite recipes in the book both because it’s so tasty and because it’s so impressive. It doesn’t matter how many times I make it, it still amazes me every time I give it a final stir and hear it shaking around.

(If you love granola as much as I do, you’ll also want to be sure to check out my carrot cake granola and these chewy earl grey granola bars.)

Homemade Granola Ingredients:

To make this crock pot granola you’ll need a few pantry staples:

  • Rolled Oats: Because granola wouldn’t be granola without them!
  • Shredded Coconut: This adds great flavor and texture and gets nice and toasty
  • Honey: For the perfect touch of sweetness
  • Cinnamon: So tasty and it smells so good!
  • Egg Whites: These help the granola form crispy clumps
  • Mix-Ins: I went with dried cherries and slivered almonds for this granola recipe, but you can use any combination of dried fruit or nuts that you like
